Locksmith on the Galt Mile, Fort Lauderdale
On the Galt Mile, almost every call is in an oceanfront condo tower — and every tower has its own association, front desk and rules for vendors. We plan the visit around the building first, then the lock; getting you back into your unit costs from $110, with most totals in the $110–175 band at any hour.
- Licensed & insured
- 6-month workmanship warranty
- About 20 min to you
The Galt Mile in numbers
The Galt Mile Community Association lists 31 member associations (Galt Mile Community Association). Its page for one of them, Galt Towers, describes guards on duty 24 hours, recorded cameras, a gated garage, and security keys required for every access door (same source). Along the same street, at 3800 Galt Ocean Drive, the Galt Ocean Club's page describes its own security officers on duty 24/7 and a card system for entrances, garage and security gates (Galt Mile Community Association). That's typical of what we plan for here: a guard who checks us in, a garage we can't enter on our own, and building keys or cards that aren't ours to copy or program.
Two hospitals sit west of the Intracoastal on North Federal Highway in the same 33308 ZIP — Holy Cross at 4725 (Holy Cross) and Broward Health Imperial Point at 6401 (Broward Health) — so a Galt Mile resident's car locked in a hospital lot is a short drive for us, too.
How we work in Galt Mile towers
- You tell the front desk or security we're coming, with our name.
- If management asks for a certificate of insurance, we send it ahead — we carry commercial general liability.
- We park where the building tells us and use the elevator it assigns.
- Building security keys — lobby, garage, amenities — stay with the association; we don't copy them without its written approval.
South Florida condo boards are expected to check a contractor's insurance before work starts, and many ask for a certificate naming the association as additional insured (South Florida Cooperator). If your building is one of them, give us the manager's email and we'll handle it.
Where the Galt Mile is
Oceanfront towers on A1A and Galt Ocean Drive in ZIP 33308 (Homes.com), north of Hugh Taylor Birch State Park — the park between the ocean and the Intracoastal at 3109 East Sunrise Boulevard (Florida State Parks). Coming from downtown, we take Sunrise Boulevard east past the Galleria and turn north on A1A.
Locked out at night
Call the front desk or security first — many associations keep a unit key, and if yours does, that's the free way in. If they don't, or won't release it, call (954) 998-6919. Stay in the lobby rather than the hallway, have ID that shows your unit address ready (or tell us if it's inside), and expect us to confirm you live there before we pack up.
What we do here
- Unit lockouts — from $110
- Rekey when the unit is sold or leased — $110 for the first lock
- Mailbox locks through management — from $95
- Balcony slider locks clogged with salt and sand (sliders)
- Stainless hardware for doors exposed to sea air (lock change)
Mailbox locks the right way
USPS tells residents with a lost mailbox key to ask the owner or manager of the building for a replacement (USPS). On cluster boxes, the carrier or postmaster has to open the master door before your compartment lock can be changed, and the arrow lock belongs to the Postal Service (Budget Mailboxes). So the order is: management approves, the carrier opens, we swap your lock — we never drill a mailbox or touch the USPS lock.
After you rekey or change a lock
Under Florida's condo statute, the association may enter a unit at reasonable hours when repairs or damage prevention require it (Florida Statutes 718.111), and many building documents require owners to leave a key with management. Ask us to cut one extra key for the office on the same visit.

Questions
The guard won't let you up without the owner. What now?
Building rules come first. If you're the owner, call the desk and authorize us; if you're a tenant, the owner or manager may need to.
I'm a snowbird. Can you rekey while I'm away?
Yes, if a person you authorize in writing meets us at the unit — your property manager, a neighbor or your cleaner — and the desk lets us up. They check the work and pay once it's done; we don't take payment in advance.
How fast can you get to the Galt Mile?
Expect about 20 minutes to the Galt Mile, as anywhere in FTL; the call confirms it. The desk sign-in adds a few minutes; the price stays the same.
Can you copy my garage or lobby key?
Not without the association's written approval — those keys are the building's.
Does a night call on the beach cost more?
No. The 3 a.m. price is the noon price.
