Commercial Locksmith in Fort Lauderdale
Fort Lauderdale offices, shops and buildings call us to rekey when staff leave, build master key systems, fix panic hardware and door closers, and get in after hours. Everyday jobs use the published list — $110 to rekey the first lock with the trip, $50 per lock after that — and bigger projects get a written quote before any work.

Downtown is building fast
More than 27,000 residential units are planned citywide, about 80% of them downtown, with 13 towers under construction in mid-2025 (Sun-Sentinel via Yahoo News). On East Sunrise Boulevard, the Galleria site has a proposal for eight towers with 3,144 rentals and a hotel, still under city review in March 2026 (Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance). New buildings mean new tenants, new suites and new keys — usually inside a property manager's rules about vendors and insurance.
Up north, the city owns and runs Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport — about 1,000 acres at 6000 NW 21st Avenue — together with the Airport Industrial Airpark beside it (FXE). For a business in an industrial park the jobs are steel back doors, padlocks and storeroom locks, with the same rekey-when-staff-change logic as a downtown suite.
What we do for businesses
- Rekey after someone leaves, so the key that walked out the door no longer works.
- Master key systems so each key opens only the doors it should.
- Grade 1 and 2 commercial locks, mortise locks and aluminum storefront locks.
- Exit devices and panic bars — we adjust, repair or replace them.
- Closers that slam the door or let it drift open.
- Restricted keys that kiosks can't copy.
- After-hours lockouts at the regular rate.
- Rekeys at tenant turnover for suites and units.
- Standalone battery keypad locks for a back office or stockroom. Wired access control — card readers, electric strikes, anything that needs low-voltage wiring — needs a different license, so we refer it to a licensed low-voltage contractor.
Hardware that suits this city
- Storefronts on Las Olas and near the beach: aluminum storefront hardware normally comes in clear-anodized finish 628, and coastal doors last longer in satin stainless 630 than in plated chrome (National Lock Supply).
- Exterior steel doors: in Broward's hurricane zone some commercial locksets carry their own Miami-Dade approval (Security Sales & Integration). We match what the door was approved with — see impact-door locks.
Apartment and condo owners
Florida law makes "locks and keys" the landlord's responsibility in rental units other than single-family homes and duplexes, unless the lease says otherwise (Florida Statutes 83.51). The statute doesn't order a rekey between tenants — but it's the simplest way to know who can open a unit. Owners of small buildings in Victoria Park and elsewhere use us for turnover rekeys.
How a business job runs
- A short call or a walk-through: which doors, who needs which key, any panic hardware.
- Written quote for anything beyond a standard rekey or lock.
- Authorization: the owner, the tenant of record, or the property manager approves in writing.
- We work around opening hours — early, late or on Sunday at the same price.
- You get a key list and an itemized invoice for your records.
What to have ready
- Proof you can authorize the work (lease, business documents, or a manager's email)
- The building manager's contact if you're in a tower
- Whether the building wants our certificate of insurance before we arrive
Questions
Can you work when the office is closed?
Yes — evenings and weekends cost the same.
Do you provide a certificate of insurance for building management?
Yes. We carry commercial general liability, and the certificate goes to the building manager on request before the job — common in the new towers downtown and along Las Olas.
An employee left with a key. Do I need new locks?
Usually not. Rekeying the doors that key opened is faster and costs less; if you hand out keys often, ask about restricted keys.
