Prices and paying

Is the price on the phone the price I pay?

Yes, for the job you described. If we find a different lock on the door — a high-security cylinder instead of a standard one, say — you hear the new total and decide before any work starts.

Half my key is stuck in the lock. How much to remove it in Fort Lauderdale?

From $110, the same as a lockout. Eddie F. extracts the piece, checks the cylinder, and cuts a new key from the halves when the code is readable — common on condo unit doors where only the resident has a key.

What name do you answer the phone with?

"Fort Lauderdale Mobile Locksmith." Calls stay with us; we don't pass jobs to a dispatch network. If a number you took from our site is answered with a generic greeting, hang up and dial (954) 998-6919.

Do you serve property managers and condo associations in Fort Lauderdale?

Yes: turnover rekeys, master-key systems, and keying units into the building master with the association's written approval. Each job is invoiced separately at the published prices.

What ZIP codes does your Fort Lauderdale service take in?

Any address within city limits in 33301, 33304, 33305, 33306, 33308, 33309, 33311, 33312, 33315 and 33316. Because several of those postal areas straddle the city line, the street name settles it — read it to us on the call and we'll confirm it on the spot.

Do nights, weekends or holidays cost more?

No. There is no after-hours line on our price list.

What payment do you take?

Cards (any major one), phone wallets from Apple or Google, a Zelle transfer, or cash. Payment comes last, after you've tested the work; nobody will ask for a deposit or walk you to a cash machine.

What if I don't like the price once you're here?

Say no and you owe nothing. When a clean opening isn't possible and you turn down drilling, the opening costs you nothing either. Cancelling before we arrive is free.

Do I get a receipt?

Yes — every job ends with a line-by-line invoice sent to your phone or inbox, showing our business name and what you paid.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: a 6-month workmanship warranty. If something we installed or repaired stops working the way it should within six months, we come back and fix it at no charge. New locks also carry the manufacturer's warranty — for Schlage and Kwikset home models, lifetime coverage of mechanism and finish, plus a year for any electronic parts.

How many keys do I get?

Two new keys with every rekey or new lock. More are $5 each, cut at the door.

Can I get a price by text?

Usually. Send a picture of the lock, the key or the car's dashboard and we'll reply with the total.

Proof and paperwork

What counts as proof that I live there?

Photo ID with the address, a lease, or a recent bill in your name. If it's inside, we check it right after the door opens.

And for a car?

ID that matches the registration, title or rental agreement.

My building wants a certificate of insurance. Can you send one?

Yes. We carry commercial general liability insurance, and the certificate goes by email to your management office before the visit — just give us the manager's address when you book.

Is there anything you won't open?

Anything we can't confirm belongs to you, and any home where someone present says you shouldn't be let in. When a landlord and a tenant disagree about access, we act only on written instructions that line up with Florida law.

Who we are

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — licensed and insured, under a City of Fort Lauderdale Business Tax Receipt, and covered by a commercial general liability policy whose certificate we'll send on request. Details on our About page.

Does a Broward County locksmith need a license?

Not from the county any more. When HB 735 kicked in on July 1, 2021, Broward's consumer protection office dropped both its locksmith license and its business registry (Broward County Consumer Protection), and Tallahassee has never created a locksmith license of its own. So a "license number" in a Broward ad tells you little; a city tax receipt, proof of insurance, a real business name and an all-in price tell you more. Our guide to checking a locksmith in Broward lists what to ask anyone you call.

How can I check a locksmith's Fort Lauderdale tax receipt myself?

Ask the business for its receipt number, then call the city's Business Tax office at 954-828-5207 (option 1) or go to 101 NE 3rd Avenue, Suite 100 (City of Fort Lauderdale). More checks are in our Broward guide.

Someone at my door claims to be a locksmith and I didn't call one. What do I do?

Don't open up. Call Fort Lauderdale police on their non-emergency line, 954-764-HELP (4357), or 911 if you feel in danger (FLPD). We never show up unannounced: every visit follows your call and a text with the technician's name.

Can you get into a guard-gated neighborhood like Bay Colony or Sunrise Key?

Yes, once the gate knows to expect us. Add us as your visitor the way your community asks, using our business name and the technician's from the confirmation text.

Are you a call center for several cities?

No. We're one local business, and this site and its technician serve Fort Lauderdale only.

Who actually comes?

Usually Eddie F. — and whoever comes, you get his name in the confirmation text. Expect his photo ID and business card at the door — and no request for money until the work is done.

What's a normal wait for you to arrive?

Usually about 20 minutes anywhere in Fort Lauderdale; we confirm the time on the call, and the text repeats it.

Do you work outside Fort Lauderdale?

No. Staying inside one city is what keeps the arrival time short and the price the same at every address.

Are you open all night?

Yes, 24/7, holidays included, at the daytime price.

Can I talk to you in Spanish?

Yes — ask for Spanish on the call, or use our Spanish pages.

Do you work in condo towers?

Yes, under each building's vendor rules — see the condo page and our Fort Lauderdale condo lockout guide.
