If you say no, or we can't do it cleanly
- You hear the on-site price and decline it: you owe nothing — not a trip fee, not a "diagnostic".
- Opening it cleanly proves impossible and you say no to drilling: the opening is free.
- You cancel before we get there: no charge at all.
Paying for the job
You settle up once the job is done and you've turned the key yourself — never in advance, and never at an ATM. Visa, Mastercard and the other major cards work, as do Apple Pay, Google Pay, Zelle and plain cash, and the itemized invoice lands in your texts or inbox. Every job carries a 6-month workmanship warranty; new locks also keep the manufacturer's warranty.
Why your total might sit higher in the range
- Hardware near the water. Salt air pits plated locks; a corroded cylinder takes longer to open or rekey, and sometimes needs replacing.
- Premium high-security cylinders such as Medeco or Mul-T-Lock and multi-point locks on newer impact doors.
- Building access. If we wait 20 minutes for a valet or a freight elevator in a Galt Mile or Las Olas tower, the price doesn't change — we mention it only so you can plan.
- Car keys: the year and type of key. A metal transponder key is at the low end; a push-to-start fob at the top.
Example: a two-bedroom condo after closing
Unit front door (knob + deadbolt), balcony slider lock, storage-room padlock swapped by the owner.
- Rekey, first lock, trip included: $110
- 1 extra lock (the second front-door lock): $50
- Slider: works fine, not touched
- Total: $110 + $50 — the mailbox goes through the association. (Illustration only, not a real job.)
What we never do
- Quote a "$29 service call" and add the rest on site — a pattern Florida consumer offices caution against (Palm Beach County Consumer Affairs).
- Start work before you've agreed to the total.
- Charge more because it's dark outside.
